Milford LeVene Hughes, 76, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at a local medical center.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Milford was born June 11, 1935 to Milford David Hughes and Laura Dickerson Hughes in Litchfield, Nebraska. He graduated from Northside High School in Fort Worth, Texas, playing every sport with great enthusiasm and dedication. Milford married Carol Landis in 1955 in Fort Worth. He graduated from Texas A & M. Milford was employed as a mechanical engineer until his retirement. He had very high work ethics. Milford enjoyed being in the great outdoors, spending time with his horses and cattle; playing golf; and traveling. Of the greatest importance to Mr. Hughes was the love that he had for his wife, his children, and his dog. He was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church and devoted to his church family.
Milford was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jacqueline Herndon.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Hughes of Abilene; a son, Arthur Hughes of Midland, Texas; two daughters, Leah Denise Nobles of Abilene and Marci Hughes Nelson and husband, Miles, of Midland, Texas; his mother-in-law, Lois Landis of Abilene; a sister, Vicki Hurt and husband, Robert, of Clyde, Texas; grandchildren, Erin Michelle Huckabee and husband, Brent, of Lubbock, Texas, Rachel Nelson, Miriam Nelson, and Sam Nelson, all of Midland; great-grandson, Isaac Brenden Nobles of Lubbock; two great-aunts, Ruth Davis of Abilene and Lola Parks of Maryland; and his dog.

 Billy Jack Cunningham, 76, died Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Baylor Hospital in downtown Fort Worth, Texas. He was born January 26, 1935 in Tuscola, Texas, the son of Bill and Eva Cunningham.
As a young man he went to work for Exxon service stations in Abilene. He played drums with a small band, playing the NCO clubs and Country clubs around the Abilene area.
In later years Billy Jack worked for Gooch Packing plant as a driver before a back injury caused him to retire. He lived in Aspermont, Texas for a number of years after retiring and later moved to Boyd, Texas.
He was a member of the Methodist Church at Tuscola.
Older folks may remember Billy as a red-headed, freckle-faced kid on a red bicycle with his dog in a side car and a big pet Racoon riding on the handlebars.
Billy is survived by his son, Dana Cunningham of Arlington, Texas; daughter, Debra Cunningham of the Metro-Plex area; grandson, Orlando Aguirre of Abilene; sister, Merleta Hon of Boyd, Texas; nephew, Charles Day of Tatum, New Mexico; and niece, Carol Waldrop of Boyd, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, in Tuscola Cemetery directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to leaving for the graveside service in Tuscola.

Laura went into the open arms of the Lord and her loving husband, Cecil, on Thursday morning, January 12, 2012.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with Reverend Stan Allcorn officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The family will receive friends at a visitation 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Laura was born November 11, 1931 to Willie Hansmann and Elizabeth (Rahe) Hansmann in New Braunfels, Texas. She married Cecil H. Middleton on October 9, 1948. Laura was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. She loved her family and she was greatly loved by them. Laura had a compassionate heart and would sacrifice herself, time and resources to help meet the needs of others. She was a sincere, genuine, smart, loving Christian wife. Laura was a great mother, outstanding grandmother, super great-grandmother, and a close sister. She loved the Lord and always prayed for her family and friends. Laura always made others around her happy. She had a good sense of humor, and always liked to make other people laugh. Laura was an animal lover and will be missed by her pets, Baby and Star. Laura was a homemaker and was always there for her kids. She and her husband, Cecil, were long time small business owners in Abilene. Laura had worked for the Abilene Independent School District for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include a son, Russell Middleton and wife, Renata, of Alexandria, Virginia; three daughters, Rhonda Doan and husband, Randy, of Ovalo, Texas, Roxanne Rose and husband, Eddie, of San Angelo, Texas, and Rhene Davidson and husband, David, of Abilene; two brothers, Alex Hansmann of San Antonio, Texas and Nolan Hansmann of New Braunfels, Texas; three sisters, Darlene Rothe and Melba Weyel, both of New Braunfels, and Peggy Pape of Driftwood, Texas; grandchildren, Rachelle Grun, Ryan Doan, Justin Rose, Jordan Rose, Jared Davidson, Jaclyn Davidson, Julia Middleton, and Jonathan Middleton; great-grandchildren, Lauren Hutcherson, Callie Hutcherson, Dakota Hartness, Kaylee Hartness, and Jaxon Doan; and her pets, Baby and Star.
Memorials can be made to Rescue the Animals, 5933 South 1st, Abilene, Texas 79605.

Please keep the family of Bryan Clark in your prayers.  He and his family lived between Tuscola and Buffalo Gap. He graduated from Tuscola High School in 1943. He was very active in basketball in high school.  His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Grady Clark of Tuscola where all attended Tuscola Methodist Church. A brother and sister as well as his parents preceeded him in death.

Bryan Leland Clark was born February 14, 1926, and died January 6, 2012. Bryan was a proud Texan and a graduate of Texas Tech University. He served in the United States Marine Corps 1944-1946 and was present when the iconic flag was raised over Iwo Jima. He worked for many years at the National Automobile Theft Bureau (NATB) and was appointed a Special Texas Ranger. Bryan was an active volunteer for many years at Methodist Hospital of Dallas, serving as President of the Auxiliary. He is survived by his beloved wife Reba, his cousin Sharon Nelson and her husband Michael, and special friends Lynda and James Cagle. He was a loving uncle to Tom and Julie Clark. Donations in memory of Bryan may be made to Oak Lawn United Methodist Church, Dallas, where he was a faithful member for many years. A service celebrating Bryan's life will take place at Oak Lawn United Methodist Church Saturday, January 14 at 10:00 a.m.
