The Class of 1969 enjoyed our 40th Reunion Saturday, June 27th with 9 of our 16 grads present:
Jimmy Hudson, Ben Moore, Cindy Haupt Malinowski, Barbara Jordan Knott, Nancy Pierson Cruse, Brenda Talley Blend, Jaynie Allen Branham, Mary Burton, and Karen Cumby Yost.
We were especially honored to have Mr. and Mrs. Oran Egger for lunch and part of the day. They are our never-changing, wonderful examples of devotion to every student and to this community. We sincerely appreciate them for sharing with us.
Also present, Ben’s wife, Betty; Cindy’s daughter, Tabitha; Barbara’s husband, Randy (Class of ’68) and their daughter, Sara; Nancy’s husband, Greg, their daughter, Kelsey, Nancy’s mother, Inez Pierson, and sister Carol Pierson Kinnibrugh (Class of ‘70); Brenda’s mother, Gladys Talley; Jaynie’s husband, John; Mary’s friend, Mark Pearson; Karen’s husband, Gene.
Former classmates also attending: Raymond Provost and David “Bubba” Swindle.
In addition to Randy Knott, attending from the Class of ’68: Tim Kelley (and wife Charlotte, daughter & son-in-law Melanie and Nathan Hale, grandsons Conner and Ethan); Peggy Hudson Oakley and husband, Gary; Sherry Hefley Gilmore; Gaytha Walker Breeding.
All attending and many who couldn’t attend, have completed biography forms that are included in our class booklets. One of those biographies is from our former Superintendent, Mr. Weeks. We did not know until we arrived Saturday morning that Mr. Weeks has passed away, and his services were to be held Saturday afternoon in Bangs where he lived. His words in his biography are all the more special to us now.
It is apparent that many friendships still exist between so many of these individuals – and much credit is due to the values and character instilled in us by our parents, our teachers, and our administrators --- and now, by the values and strong character we have come to appreciate in each other.
