Gloria Jean Egger, 75, died Monday, July 12, 2010 in an Abilene hospital. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010, in Lawn Baptist Church, with the Reverend Price Mathieson officiating. Interment will be in Slater's Chapel Cemetery in Nolan, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Gloria was born April 10, 1935, to Oscar and Ruby Maynard Ensminger in Nolan. She married James Oren Egger May 26, 1951, in Divide, Texas. She lived in Lubbock while her husband, Oren, was in college. The couple moved to Lawn in 1954 and to Tuscola in 1988. She was an active member of Lawn Baptist Church. She worked at the West Texas Fair in Abilene as a judge and director in arts and crafts for many years. She participated in all family activities, including family farming. Her lifelong job as a mother and homemaker was caring for her family, her husband, her friends, and her church.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Wanda Buchanan.
Survivors include her husband, Oren Egger of Tuscola; one son, Stan Egger and wife Nan of Tuscola; one daughter Ora Jean Lee and husband Jimmie of Seymour; four grandchildren, Cole Egger of Dallas, Jessica Egger Baldwin and husband Scott of Hudson, Wisconsin, Jill Steward and husband Cody of St. Jo, , and Jacie Abney and husband James of Carrolton; and several other relatives.
