CONCORD - Lanham George "Red" Haynes, 81, of 7681 Untz Road, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at his home. Service: 3 p.m. today, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kannapolis. Graveside Service: 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Grace Cemetery, Grace, Idaho. Visitation: 1-2:30 p.m. today at the church. Whitley's Funeral Home in charge.

Lanham George Haynes "Red", 81, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007 at his home after being in ill health the past two years. Mr. Haynes was born March 26, 1926 in Taylor County, Texas, the son of the late Lanham Gibson Haynes and the late Exie Heffley Haynes. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kannapolis, N.C. He was employed with Duke Power Company for 20 years until his retirement in 1988. He has lived in the Concord-Kannapolis area since 2002, moving there from South Carolina. Mr. Haynes was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Navy. He had a special love for fishing, liked making ceramics, painting and working with beads.

Mr. Haynes is survived by his wife of 42 years, Florence Perry Haynes; daughter, Mavis Julia Jepsen Metcalf nd husband Terry of Concord, son, Lynn Ray Jepsen and wife, Marilyn of Livermore, CA; brother, James L. Haynes and wife Ann of Mesquite, Texas, grandchildren Kenneth Verlon Metcalf, Robert Ruben Metcalf, and Kristina Lynn Jepsen Hopper and husband Alan; several great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Thurs. May 31, 2007 at the Grace Cemetery in Grace, Idaho. Services were under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home of Soda Springs, Idaho.
