Seburn Davis 'S.D.' Monroe, Jr., son of Seburn Davis Monroe, Sr. and Mattie Etna McKinley, married to Goldie Janet Hallford and buried in Buffalo Gap Cemetery, Buffalo Gap, Taylor County, Texas.

Seburn Davis (S.D.) Monroe, Jr., 84, died Saturday, February 22, 2014 in Abilene, Texas.

S.D. was born the son of Mattie (McKinley) and Seburn Davis Monroe, Sr. on December 15, 1929 in Oplin, Texas. After graduating from Oplin High School, he attended Draughons Business College for two years. On January 14, 1955, he married Goldie Hallford in Tuscola, Texas. S.D. was a loving husband and father.

Having worked for Abilene Reproduction Co. for several years, Junior, as he was also known, became owner and operator of the company from 1962 until 1992.

S.D. was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene. He was also a member of The Rotary Club and The Gideons International.

His wife, Goldie Monroe, preceded S.D. in death on October 8, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clifford Monroe and Alton Monroe; and two sisters, Etna Carr and Lucille Ford.

Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Alexander and her husband Steve of Granbury, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.

The family expresses very special appreciation to S.D.'s brother-in-law, David Hallford, and niece, Carolyn Atkins, for all of their help to care for him in our absence.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. in Abilene. Dr. Jeff Reid and Brother Jack Ridlehoover will officiate. Interment will follow in Buffalo Gap Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Special thanks is also expressed to Dr. Nancy Daggubati and her staff for 23 years of excellent professional attention, as well as the loving, compassionate care that S.D. received from Bob and Irma of the Coumadin Lab; Nancy Holden of the Pacemaker Clinic; Dr. Ralph McCleskey, Chris, Sherri, Wendy, and Valerie of the CHF Clinic; and Dr. Victor Hudman, JoAnn, Clay, Katherine and staff.
