Harris L. Patterson

Harris L. Patterson, son of Mark Amos Patterson and Lillie Maud Davis, married to Alice Harrison, then married to Mary Desma Crowson and buried in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Abilene, Taylor County, Texas.

Harris Patterson, age 94, was born August 3, 1912 in Runnels County, and died June 15, 2007 in Farmers Branch, TX, after a brief illness.

He was a farmer in south Taylor County, near Lawn, prior to moving to Abilene in 1950. Harris was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church, and was an original founder of the church, growing out of the old Portland Avenue Baptist Church.

He was a selfless person of strength and dignity, always quick to help others.

Harris was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Harrison Patterson, who passed away in 1947 after eleven years of marriage, and by Desma Crowson Patterson, who passed away in 1995 after 43 years of marriage.

He is survived by son Joe Patterson and daughter-in-law Jan Patterson, of Farmers Branch, Texas, daughter Jenny Glaze and son-in-law Jerry Glaze, of Kempner, TX, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Family visitation will be at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene, tonight from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, June 17. A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Memorial Park at 10:30 am, Monday, June 18, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
