Wylda Wandalene Jobe Speer, daughter of Virgil Beesley Jobe and Katherine E. 'Kate' McCormick and married Leland M. Speer.  Tuscola Independent School District Teacher (1946-1947).  South Taylor County Independent School District Grade School Teacher (1947-1953).

Wylda J. Speer of San Jose, California died peacefully in her sleep on April 21st.

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas on November 16th, 1923 to Virgil and Kate Jobe, Wylda was the eldest of three girls and was the first in her family to complete college earning a degree in Education from the University of Arkansas.

After graduating and the passing of her father, she moved to Texas to be close to family where she taught elementary education in Tuscola. She was always an active member of the community and served on several boards and committees.

While visiting cousins in Southern California she met Leland Speer. Soon after, she moved to California and married in 1957. She and Lee moved to San Jose in 1958 and although relocating to California, she always kept a close bond with her family in Texas, frequently traveling to spend holidays and vacations with her family.

Wylda is preceded in death by her husband Leland and sister Lyla Deanne Powelson. She is survived by her sister Patsy McKeithan and nephew Trey McKeithan of Fort Worth, Texas, nephew Michael Powelson of Brighton, Colorado, and niece Tera, husband James, and children Cady and Ben of Phoenix, Arizona.

A memorial service will be held Friday May 24th at 10:00 am at Calvary United Methodist Church, 729 Morse Street, San Jose.
