Donna Sue Pierce Barr, 70, of Abilene, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2008.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at University Church of Christ. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27 at University Church of Christ, with Eddie Sharp and Bill Luttrell officiating. Burial will be beside her beloved son Brandon at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Sue was born July 29, 1938, in Baird, Texas, the only child of Lucien and Pricey Pierce, native residents of Oplin, Texas. She graduated from Oplin Elementary School and Lawn High School. Sue married Leon Barr on September 5, 1959 at the Highway 36 Church of Christ. She attended business school and worked for West Texas Utilities for 11 years. Sue was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, and had been a member of University Church of Christ since January 1968. Sue loved University Church, and especially enjoyed helping with the nursery class. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Brandon Leon Barr. Sue is survived by her husband, Leon, her daughter, Bronwyn Sue Brewer, two grandchildren, Brynn Elizabeth and Bailey Sue and several cousins.

Her family requests that memorials be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
