Homer Carrol  Parris, son of Floyd Walker Parris and Addie Lorraine Meador, married to Laura Jeanette Hancock and buried in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Abilene, Taylor County, Texas.

Homer C. Parris, 73, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at an Abilene care center.

A Taylor County native, Homer was born in Bradshaw, Texas on October 14, 1936, the son of Addie Lorraine (Meador) and Floyd Walker Parris. He graduated from South Taylor County High School, now Jim Ned High School, and attended Hardin-Simmons University. He served for six years in the National Guard. Homer was a receiving clerk from McKesson Drug Company.

Homer married Laura Jeanette Hancock on May 31, 1958 in Abilene. He was a member of Wylie Baptist Church.

His parents and one niece, Eula Beth Richards, preceded him in death.

Homer is survived by his wife, Jeanette Hancock Parris of Abilene; brother, Joe E. Parris and wife, Louise, of Abilene; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hancock of Plainview; and brother-in-law, Jesse Edmondson of Abilene. Survivors also include three nephews and spouses, Rickey and Pug Parris of Abilene, Randall Wayne and Julie Hancock of Lockney, Texas, and James Russell and Brenda Hancock of Euless, Texas; four nieces and spouses, Janice Rose Schoolcraft of San Antonio, Carolyn and Danny Wallace and Tammie and David Lynn all of Abilene, and Pamela Ann and Fred Rawlings of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; and several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Fuller officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be David Raughton, Nathan Hancock, Tanner Hancock, Jesse Rawlings, Nick Craft and Brent Shipley.
