Dorothy Carlene Willis Hughes Martindale, daughter of James Royston Willis, Jr. and Earline Clayton, married 1st to Linard Hughes, married 2nd to Clinton William Martindale and buried in Tuscola Cemetery, Tuscola, Taylor County, Texas.

Dorothy Carlene Martindale, 75, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at her home. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Lawn Church of Christ with Mike Hardaway and Roy Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. today, May 30, at the funeral home.

Carlene was born October 12, 1934, in Crews, Texas, to Earline Clayton and J. R. Willis, Jr. She worked for 25 years at Abilene State School, retiring in 1996. She was a lifelong resident of Lawn and a member of Lawn Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two husbands, Linard Hughes and Clint Martindale; a son, Michael Hughes; and a step-daughter, Betty Mae Green.

Survivors include one son, Doug Hughes and wife Pam of Abilene; one daughter, Melissa Yarbrough and husband Jon of Tuscola; one step-daughter, Alice Faye Brown and husband Arnold of Grapeland; two step-sons, Tommy Martindale and wife Patsy of Oklahoma and Eddie Martindale and wife Shirley of Gainesville; one sister, Sonya Willis of Lawn; three grandchildren, Kathy Collingwood and husband David of Abilene, Jeannie DePoe and husband John of Iowa City, Iowa, Carson Wright of Abilene; two great-grandchildren, Dakota Collingwood and Samantha Collingwood, both of Abilene; and many cousins and other relatives.
