She was one of seven children and grew up in Ovalo and attended school there until she was twelve then attended High School at Lawn, TX. where she was valedictorian her senior year. Vera was well known for her love of climbing trees and one of her favorite things to do was have a picnic outside under the trees.

Vera loved going to Sacramento and she liked the outdoors, the mountains and forest. She was a very active member of FUMC, enjoying WSCS and visiting shut-ins and fixing food for meals that were served. She was an exceptional seamstress, a talented cook and was loved for her delicious cocoanut cream pies and other great recipes. Vera and Ms. Amy were quite a combination on planning and fixing food or whatever needed done at church.
