Rastus J. 'R.J.' Jones, Jr.

December 6, 1918 - September 17, 2011

Rastus J. 'R.J.' Jones,Jr., son of Rastus J. Jones, Sr. and Floy Agnes Mitchell and buried in Logan Cemetery, Logan, Quay County, New Mexico.

R.J. Jones, age 92, a long time Logan, NM, resident now residing in Clovis, NM, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2011.

R.J. was born December 6, 1918, in Tuscalousa, AL. He was retired from the Southern Pacific Rail Road where he was Brakeman and Conductor. He served his country during WW II in the US Army from 1941 to 1946 in the 386th infantry. He had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Logan, NM. He had been making his home in Logan for many years before moving to Clovis ,NM, for health reasons.

Surviving his is his wife, Joanne Jones of Clovis, NM; daughters, Sally Jae and Jackie Williams and husband, Richard all of Albuquerque, NM, Charlene Denito and husband, Denny of Las Vegas, NV, Marlene Smith and husband, Bob of San Jon, NM, and Karen Griggs and husband, Gayland of Farmington, NM; sons, John Hall of Farmington and Gary Hall and wife, Dee of Belen, NM, along with numerous grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian (Vicki) Jones.

Graveside services celebrating his life will be Thursday morning, September 22, 2011, beginning at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church at Logan, NM, with burial in the family plot of the Logan Cemetery at Logan, NM.

The family suggests for those who wish, donations may be made to the Vista Care Hospice in Clovis, NM, or to the First Baptist Church of Logan, NM, in loving memory of R.J. Jones.
