Funeral services for Ted Swindle, 65, of Huntsville, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 8, 2002, at Huntsville Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Huntsville Funeral Home. Rev. Don Shannon will officiate. Burial will be at Mayes Addition of Oakwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Richard Coburn, Kelby Smith,
Jerry Davis. Donald Merchant, Monroe Parker and Guy Craig Moses Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Jack Mills, Lucas Cohurn, Hub Sutton and Kyle Bailey.

Born Feb. 1, 1937, in Taylor County, he was a U.S. Army veteran who served for 19 months in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. He taught for 28 years in Killeen ISD, Coldspring ISD and Huntsville ISD and was a member of University Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Swindle passed away Nov. 5. 2002, in Huntsville. Mr. Swindle was a graduate of Jim Ned High School (class of 1956) in Tuscola, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University before being drafted and returned from the service to graduate from Sam Houston State University with a bachelor of arts degree in 1967, and a master's in 1968.

Mr. Swindle lay in state Thursday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Marie (Parker) Swindle, whom he married on Dec. 16, 1967; sisters, Pearl Dickson of Lufkin, Texas. Geneva Attaway of Elwood, Ill. and Virginia Frierson of Garland, Texas; brothers, W.C. Swindle of Stephenville, Texas and twin. Ed Swindle of Killeen, Texas; three nieces; six nephews and a special extended family of 34 years who knew him affectionately as "Teddy Bear," "Uncle Ted" and "Papa T."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Effie Pearl (Roberts) and Cason Berryman Swindle and niece, Sherry Heck.
