NEW ALBANY - Roy Lee Patton, 84, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at Crestridge Place in Watonga, Okla.  

He was born June 20, 1922, in Ovalo, Texas, to the late William O. and Martha Elizabeth Patton. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked in the automotive parts business for many years. After assignments in Houston, Dallas and San Antonio, Texas, he retired from Hastings Manufacturing Company in 1975. He and his family relocated to New Albany, where he worked part time in the real estate business and for the New Albany Schools Transportation Department. He was a 50-year Mason and a Shriner.

Services were Friday, Dec. 15, at United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany with the Rev. Leslie Nabors officiating. Burial was in Vista Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Duncan Patton; two daughters, Mary Frances Goerke of Watonga, Okla., and Sharon Alexander of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Eulalah Oldenburgh and an infant sister.

Pallbearers were Gary Brevard, Jimmy Bigham, Roy Hall, Mike Hall, Ronald Dodd, Donald Dodd and Jack Dodd.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Union County Friends of the Library, P.O. Box 846, New Albany, MS 38652; or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607-1460.
