Thelbert Otho Landers, son of Arthur Van Buren Landers and Izora Barrington, married to Thelma Josephine Padgett and buried in Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas.


Landers, T.O. 94, Grand Prairie resident for over 60 years, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010, in Denton.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 11a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Grand Prairie. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 pm. Tuesday at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home in Grand Prairie.

MEMORIALS: Alzheimer's Association of Greater Dallas or First Baptist Church, Grand Prairie Building Fund. T. O. was born on July 15, 1915 in Ovalo, Texas. After working in California, he moved to Grand Prairie in 1942 where he met and married Thelma J. Padgett, his wife of 66 years. T.O. worked as a tool designer in the aerospace industry for many years, primarily at General Dynamics. He retired from the City of Irving Parks Department in 1980. T.O. was a member of First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie for 68 years. He served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher with young adults and pre-schoolers. He enjoyed sharing his gardening talents by beautifying the church grounds.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Thelma J. Landers; daughters, Lou Anne Mauldin and husband Gary; Jo Delle Landers; Laura Lynne Kunkelman and husband Gary; grandchildren, Alan Mauldin and wife Eva, Joshua Mauldin and wife Jessica, Scott Mauldin, Beth Kunkelman Koenig and husband Jake, Rebecca Kunkelman and Bradley Kunkelman; great-grand-daughter, Ella Landers Mauldin; brother, Don Landers, and many nieces and nephews.
