James and I celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary Nov. 26, 2009. In October we went with our three children and their spouses to Seaside, Oregon. We had a house on the ocean and spent a wonderful week - spending most of the time visiting tide pools at low tide and hiking and shopping. On November 15, our family and friends attended First United Methodist Church and our children had a wonderful lunch prepared at Texas Land and Cattle in Bedford. Out of town guests were Bob and Nita Beard from Georgetown,
Margaret and Roy Shilling from Austin, and Herschel Riddle from Houston.
After the first six weeks of my senior year, the top two grades at Ovalo High School were discredited so we were moved to Tuscola High School. That was emotionally difficult for me.
One day in history class Mr. Hogue asked a question that no one but stupid me would attempt to answer. I mispronounced Butte, Montana. Mr. Hogue was livid, slammed down his book and walked out of the room.
