(September 12, 1929 ~ June 24, 2006)

OVALO – Mabel Jean Marshall, 76, died Saturday, June 24, 2006, at her residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at the Ovalo Baptist Church, with Reverend Price Mathieson officiating. Burial will be in McBee Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jean was born September 12, 1929, in Ovalo to Bessie Hancock Hawkins and John Allen Hawkins. She graduated from Ovalo High School. In 1949, she married Alton Marshall in Ovalo. He died in 1994. She lived in Bangs for 15 years, returning to Ovalo in 1975, where she enjoyed quilting, horses and raising cattle. She was employed at Abilene State School, retiring in 1992. She was a Baptist.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Jo Abbott.

Survivors include: three daughters, Jo Lynn Allbright of Houston, Lavonda Evans and husband Dana of Santa Anna, and Carol Ann Walker of Ovalo; one brother, Garland Hawkins of Cisco; a step-sister, Marcheta Mayfield of Lawn; a step-brother, Bob Cook of Dudley; six grandchildren, Heather Allbright, Matthew Allbright, Ariel Evans Holcomb, Alison Evans, Lauren De La Cruz, and Jonathan Walker; five great-grandchildren; one aunt, Nancy Fleming of Venus; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
