Inez Stephens Pierson, 90, formerly of Tuscola, died Thursday, July 29, 2010, in an Abilene nursing home. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2010, in Tuscola Cemetery, with the Reverend Johnny Sheffield officiating, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Inez was born February 29, 1920, in Buffalo Gap to Walter William and Gladys Maxwell Stephens. She married Jessie R. Pierson May 12, 1941, in Buffalo Gap. Her husband was in the United States Air Force, and the couple lived in many places including Germany, Bossier City, Louisiana, Harlingen and San Angelo before moving to Tuscola in 1962 and to Abilene in 2003. She worked at the Abilene State School for 22 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of Tuscola Church of Christ.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a brother, Rudy "Whizzer" Stephens; and a grandson, John Rudy Stephens.
Survivors include three sons, Jessie W. Pierson and wife Cindy of Snyder, Johnny M. Pierson and wife Gerda of San Antonio, and Jeffery K. Pierson and wife Marcy of Round Rock; two daughters, Nancy A. Cruse and husband Greg of Abilene and Carol G. Kinnibrugh and husband Michael of Seymour; three brothers, James W. "Tuck" Stephens of Katy, Billy Mack Stephens of Tuscola, Glen "Red" Stephens and wife Jo of Snyder; three sisters, Maxine Pierson of Tuscola, Cora Ross of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and Peggy Yown and husband Bob of Tuscola; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
