Daniel Webb Phariss, 62, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at his home in Tuscola. Services, with military honors, will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Tuscola Baptist Church with pastor Larry Millian officiating. Burial will follow in the Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Fry ~ Bartlett Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00pm Friday evening October 21, 2011 at the funeral home.
Danny was born January 2, 1949 in Abilene to J. C. and Tommie Phariss. Danny was a lifelong resident of Tuscola and southern Taylor County
He loved sports and played football for Jim Ned until a knee injury sidelined him. He was then drafted by the United States Army and served a tour in Vietnam building roads. Sergeant Phariss was honorably discharged in 1970. He returned to Tuscola enrolling in TSTC's Auto Mechanic program becoming a transmission specialist. He worked for AAMCO Transmissions for twenty seven years, before moving to Ronnie Smith Transmissions. Due to his illness, he was forced to retire. He was a member of the Seniors at Maxwell Golf course, and loved to play softball with his family.
Danny is survived by his wife of thirty five years, Thressa of Tuscola, sons Josh of Tuscola, Jack and wife Malinda of Clyde, Jacob and wife Kari of Tuscola, brothers Tommy Gardner and wife Celia of Abilene, J.C. Phariss, Jr. and wife Patti of Tucola, Johnny Phariss and wife Maureen of Tuscola, Howard Pharis of Tuscola, and sister Ann Phariss of Abilene. He was the proud grand father of six grandchildren.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents.
