Dub McMillon, 86, of Ballinger died early Saturday morning, March 3, 2012 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
He was born May 22, 1925 in Guion, TX to James Luther and Tennie (Haynie) McMillon. He attended college at Hardin-Simmons in Abilene before serving with the US Navy during WW II. He married Lanora Jo Young on January 20, 1948 in Abilene. She preceded him in death on September 18, 2006.
Dub farmed and ranched all his life and sold insurance on the side. He worked for Farm Bureau for many years, and was the Agency Manager for Runnels County Farm Bureau retiring after 16 years so he could spend more time with the love s of his life, his family and farming/ranching.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary McMillon and two sons, James McMillon and wife, Sarah and Larry McMillon and wife, Suzanne all of Abilene; four grandchildren, Shellie McMillon of Arlington, Alison McMillon of Dallas, Nick and Reyna McMillon of Abilene and Kristi and Webb Murphy also of Abilene. Five great grandchildren, Maddie McMillon, Wyatt McMillon, Doak McMillon, Carson Murphy and Mason Murphy also survive.
A visitation time for friends and family will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6th at Lange Funeral Home. There will be a service of celebration at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Ballinger with Rev. Ferris Akins and Bro. Bobby Broyles officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Abilene.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Ballinger Carnegie Library
