James Wayland Shores, son of Samuel Verner Shores and Willie Mina Mansfield, married to Margaret Cecil McKee and buried in McBee Cemetery, Ovalo, Taylor County, Texas.

Funeral services for James W. Shores, 53, 193 N. First W., Green River, were conducted Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Francom and Smith Funeral Chapel in Green River, the Rev. Charles Crim officiating. Burial was in McBee Cemetery in Lawn, Tex.

Mr. Shores died Monday night at his home of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He was born Aug. 4, 1918 at Lawn, the son of Samuel and Mina Mansfield Shores.

He married Margaret Cecil McKee Aug. 15, 1937 at Ovalo, Tex.

Mr. Shores had resided in Green River for about three and one-half years, moving there from Carlsbad, N.M.

A member of the First Baptist Church, he also belonged to the BPO Elks, Moose Lodge and Eddy County, N.M., Sheriff’s Posse. He was employed as an underground utility man at Allied Chemical.

Survivors include one son, Jimmy Wayne of Carlsbad; one daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Hanttula of Silver City, N.M.; one brother, Raymond of Houston, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Lucille Turner of Lawn, and three grandchildren.
