Tonabel 'Toni' Carter Scott, daughter of Oscar Criffon Carter and Bessie Berthania Chastain, married to Alvin Prentis Scott and buried in Sweetwater Cemetery, Sweetwater, Nolan County, Texas.


Tonabel (Toni) Scott, age 89, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013, at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M ., Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Fourth and Elm Church of Christ with Mike Crowley and Jerry Riggs officiating.  Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home. 

Tonabel was born April 17, 1924 in Sylvester, Texas (Fisher County)  to Oscar and Bessie (Chastain) Carter.   Toni  graduated from Tuscola High School.  She married Prentis Scott on December 22, 1945 in Abilene, Texas.  She was a homemaker, seamstress, and worked for SISD as a cafetaria manager at Philip Nolan.   She and her sister-in-law designed clothes for Dan Blocker ( Hoss Cartwright from Bonanza).  She was a member of the Bluebonnet Club, Home Demonstration, Nolan County 4H,  She and her husband received an award from National Block and Bridle Organization for Animal Science and Agriculture in 1980. 

She is survived by her two sons; Carter Scott and wife Kayla of Sweetwater, Texas; and Franky Scott and wife Nancy of Dalhart, Texas; nine grandchildren; Amy Scott Hickman and husband Royce, Erin Scott Eshleman and husband Jared, Parker  Scott, Colton Scott, Avery Scott, Emma Scott, Shawn Scott and wife Hillary, Trevor Scott and wife Tish, and Lance Scott and wife Sara; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Bessie Carter,  husband, Prentis Scott , son, Shanklin Scott, ten brothers and sisters. 

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 5:00 - 6:00 PM. 

Pallbearers will be Parker  Scott, Colton Scott, Shawn Scott, Trevor Scott, Lance Scott, Jared Eshleman and Royce Hickman. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Gibbs, John Gibbs, and Ken Kimble.
