Harvey L. Barrington, Jr., 81, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010, in an Abilene nursing center. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, in Elmcrest Baptist Church, 517 N. Pioneer Dr., with the Reverends Burtis Williams and Larry Meers officiating. Burial Will be in Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola. No visitation is planned.

Harvey was born August 21, 1928, in Lawn to Lida Hicks and Harvey Lee Barrington, Sr. He graduated from Lawn High School and from Cisco Junior College with an Associates Degree. He served in the United States Army during WWII until 1946. He married Edna Irene Cook on June 29, 1955, in Abilene. He worked for J. H. Strain Construction Company for 12 years and Brontke Construction Company for 20 years in many West Texas locations. He was a superintendent in concrete work building forms for bridges, retiring in 1993. He was an avid fisherman and a member of Elmcrest Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife and one sister.

Survivors include one sister, Marie Gill and several nieces and nephews, including Terry Cook of Abilene.
