Helen Pauline Jones Sansom

Helen Pauline Jones Sansom, daughter of Joel Velmer Jones and Irene Norris, married to Arthur Otis Sansom and buried in Dewey Cemetery, Lawn, Taylor County, Texas.  South Taylor County Independent School District Cafeteria Custodian (1956-1957).  Jim Ned Consolidated Independent School District First Group of Custodians (1957-1982).

OVALO – Helen Pauline Sansom, 83, died Saturday, January 03, 2004, in Abilene. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, at First Baptist Church in Tuscola, with the Reverend Burtis Williams officiating. Burial will be in Dewey Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola.

Pauline was born February 25, 1920, to Joel Velmer and Irene Norris Jones in Content in Runnels County. A graduate of Content High School in 1937, she attended Draughn's Business College in Abilene before her marriage to Arthur O. Sansom May 6, 1939, in Novice. She moved to Ovalo in 1953, and to Abilene in January, 1998. She worked for Jim Ned ISD for 26 years in food service, retiring in 1982. At the age of twelve she began singing in quartets and continued singing for sixty years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Tuscola, and served as church pianist from 1953 until the early 1990's.

Preceding Pauline in death were her parents; her husband; a son, Mickey Lynn Sansom; and five brothers.

Survivors include one son, Johnny Mack Sansom of Sulphur, Oklahoma; one daughter-in-law, Fredell Sansom of Tuscola; one brother, J. D. Jones of Gatesville; two sisters, Judy Porter of Monahans and Geneta Huffman of Houston; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
