Walter Burl Norris, son of George Macon Norris and Mattie Sue Middleton, married to Bettie Jane Pollock and buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas.


Walter B. Norris, 90, of Topeka, passed away November 3, 2012.

Walter was born May 18, 1922, in Lawn, TX, the son of George and Mattie (Middleton) Norris. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Science from Texas A&M. Walter served as a Pharmacist Mate in the Navy during WWII. He was united in marriage to Bettie Pollock in Topeka, in 1947, she precedes him in death. Walter worked at Latimore-Fink Laboratories and the Topeka VA Hospital.

Walter was a member of the Topeka’s Siloam Lodge # 225 A.F. & A.M., York Rite, and the Arab Shrine. He was also a member at First Presbyterian Church.

Walter is survived by his son, Clifford Norris, Kansas City, MO, and two step grandchildren, Chris and Kevin Goodlett, Lee’s Summit, MO.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children Travel Fund, c/o Arab Shriners, 1305 South Kansas Avenue, Topeka, KS 66612-1332.
