Vada Louise Curry Zimmerlee

Vada Louise Zimmerlee, 96, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021, at First Baptist Church, Tuscola at 11:00am, burial will follow in Dewey Cemetery, Lawn. Directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 12, from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home in Tuscola.
    Vada was born on February 20, 1925, to Virgil and Nettie (McGee) Curry in Santa Anna. She attended school and graduated from Buffalo, Texas. She continued her education at Draughns Business School in Abilene. She met Wayland Zimmerlee and they married on October 19, 1946, they settled in Lawn where he went to work at Morris Ready Mix, and she went to work in the Jim Ned CISD Cafeteria as a cook. She retired from Jim Ned in 1991 after 26 years of cooking for the Indians.
She was an active Sunday School member in the Baptist Church. She loved to garden and work in her yard; she had a passion for fishing and was always ready to spend a day on a tank dam with a cane pole and bobber. Her main job at the house was keeping her two boys in line and maintaining a peace between them. She was known for her Sunday dinners and was admired as a best mother-in- law.
She is survived by her two sons, Charles Zimmerlee and wife Sandra of Tyler, Terry Zimmerlee and wife Patsy of Tuscola; sister Ruth Elkins of Abilene; brothers, J.V. Curry of Fort Worth, and Otha (Cotton) Curry and wife Carolyn of Flora Vista, N.M., six grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayland Zimmerlee (1993), and her parents.
