Shirley B. Pentecost Jones Snow, daughter of C.B. Pentecost and Alvera Deloris Pierce, married to James Arlin Snow and will be buried in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Abilene, Taylor County, Texas.


Shirley B. Jones Snow of Abilene, Texas passed away on July 18, 2023. Shirley was born December 9, 1944 to parents C.B. and Deloris Pentecost of Lawn, Texas.

She graduated from Jim Ned High School in 1963 where she was active in Basketball, a Majorette, played the drums, and was band queen. During her childhood she enjoyed life on the farm with her siblings. She shared a love of barrel racing and western pleasure riding with her father.

In 1964 she began her journey as a full-time wife and mother to her 3 children Eddie, Jacque and Monty. She was involved as a room mother and 4H Leader. Shirley was an active member of the NRA. In 1982 Shirley began a career in the secretarial field where she was an oil and gas secretary for several oil companies in Abilene. In 1997 she began working for the Taylor County Clerk's where she retired after many years of serving her beloved community as a Probate Clerk.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, C.B and Deloris of Lawn, Tx; husband, James Snow of Abilene.

She is survived by her son, Eddie Jones of Ft. Lauderdale; her daughter, Jacque Phillips and husband David Phillips of Austin, TX; her son, Monty Jones of Abilene, TX; her sisters, Jan La Baume of Centerville, Ohio, and Deanie Sultemeier of Johnson City, TX; her brother, Dalton Pentecost of Abilene, TX; her granddaughters, Morgan Jones of Abilene, TX, Kenedee Hall of Austin, TX, and Bella Phillips of Austin, TX; one great granddaughter, Brilee Hall of Austin, TX; and a niece and several nephews.

Services will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Shirley will be remembered as being a kind and loving person that would give you the shirt off her back. She will be missed by all. We love you Mom.

The family invites everyone to a reception following the service at 1118 Santos Street, Abilene, Texas.
