Barbara Ann Burton Martin

December 29, 1949 - January 4, 2022

Barbara Martin, 72, of Abilene passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4th of 2022 with her family at her side. Graveside services celebrating her life will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 in the McBee Cemetery, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home.
Barbara was born on December 29, 1949 in Abilene to the late George Walter and Jessie (Spencer) Burton. She grew up in Lawn and attended school there. She had three sisters and one brother. She learned hard work and to love even harder from the most amazing parents.
Barbara worked for many years for Pediatric Associates of Abilene, after leaving there she worked for over twenty years for TDCJ. She married Joseph Martin and had a daughter Heather in 1974 and a son Joseph "Beau" in 1982. She also had a granddaughter Mackenzie in 2000 and a grandson Kolton in 2008. She loved her kids and grandkids fiercely and unconditionally. She loved watching her grandkids in all of their sports and recently got to see Mackenzie graduate from Texas Tech University.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved parents.
She is survived by her children daughter, Heather Cardenas and husband David; son, Beau Martin; granddaughter Mackenzie; grandson Kolton; brother, Glen Burton; sisters, Mary Pearson, Margaret Grant, and Debbie Kershman. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
