Eva Jo Maschek Stephens

(November 15, 1928 ~ April 15, 2018)

Eva Jo Maschek Stephens, 89, died on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at home, with her beloved daughters at her side.

She was born to William Joseph Maschek and Ethel Gertrude Brooks Maschek on November 15, 1928 at Rogers Community, Texas. She attended Tuscola, Texas schools and married Glen 'Red' Stephens in Winters, Texas on June 19, 1946.

She was a devoted Christian wife and mother, often told of her baptism in a stock tank, with trees all around, in the Rogers Community when she was 12 years old. She had been a member of the Colonial Hill Baptist Church since 1962.

She loved being a stay-at-home mom to her two daughters, Donna and Jo Beth. She was very proud of her girls, and all they have accomplished. She and Red loved working in their yard, which was named “Yard of the Month” on more than one occasion.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years in 2014; her parents; a brother, Emmett; and her only sister, Willie D Smith. She was survived by her daughter, Donna Stephens Price and husband Sonny of Junction, Texas, and Jo Beth Stephens Everett and husband John of Snyder. Two nieces, Dianne Hamblen and husband James of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and Janice Jo Ireland and husband Dave of Fulshear, Texas; a nephew, David Smith and fiancé, Lesa Sonnier of Snyder.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, 18 April, at the Colonial Hill Baptist Church, with her nephew-in-law, James Hamblen, officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Memorial Gardens.
