Lota Clyde Johnson Marshall

(March 20, 1928 ~ September 12, 2021)

ABILENE - Lota Clyde Johnson Marshall, 93, of Abilene, entered into her heavenly home on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Hendrick Medical Center. Visitation will be from 5-6:30 pm on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX. A graveside service will be at 11 am on Friday, September 17, 2021 at McBee Cemetery, 1726 CR 142, Ovalo, TX 79541. Lota’s cousin, Gerald Cumby, of Burleson, TX will officiate. Services and burial are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.

Lota was born at home in Lawn, TX to Flossie and Clyde Johnson on March 20, 1928. She was a graduate of Ovalo High School. She married her high school sweetheart, William Doyle Marshall, on November 23, 1946. They were married 63 years before his death on July 18, 2010. At the age of 40, Lota embarked on a new adventure, returning to school to becoming an LVN. For the next 15 years, she was employed in the newborn nursery at Hendrick Hospital, loving every baby born.

Her greatest achievement, however, was giving birth to seven children over a span of seven years – six boys and one girl. She had a sweet even-temper and enjoyed the loud, busy home she and Doyle and their children created.

She is survived by daughter and caregiver, Cindy Jeter, of Abilene; sons: Bob Marshall and wife, Donna, and Randy Marshall, all of Abilene, Don Marshall and wife, Diana, of Houston and daughter-in-law, Mellie Marshall of El Paso; sister, Ginger Faircloth of Abilene, 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Lota was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Doyle; brother, Bob Johnson; sons, Billy, John and Jerry Marshall; daughter-in-law, Karen Marshall; granddaughter, Kelli Marshall; and grandson, Michael Paul Marshall, his wife Ana, and their two daughters, Samantha and Isabella.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jason Marshall, Denny Marshall, Jakob Jeter, Jarod Jeter, and Paul Luper, great-grandson, Jackson Marshall, and nephew, Kenny Faircloth. Grandson, Justin Jeter, is an honorary pallbearer.

The Marshall family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Bindu Goel, Dr. Rhett Lohman, Dr. Ren Zhang, and the Hendrick Medical Center North nursing staff on A4 and C6 for their excellent care of Lota.
