Brenda Carol Poindexter, 50, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, May 21, 2009, at her residence.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009, in Lawn Baptist Church with the Reverends Price Mathieson and Mark Moore officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery, directed by Fry - Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. today, Friday, May 22, 2009, at the funeral home.
Brenda was born December 12, 1958, in Baird to Dave N. and Maxine Freeman Poindexter. She was a graduate of Jim Ned High School. She began her career of 29 ½ years with the United States Postal Service at the age of 18 in Lawn. She soon became postmaster and continued there for 17 ½ years. She moved to the Buffalo Gap post office as postmaster, working for an additional 12 years and retiring in 2007. She was married to Darrell Earnest for 13 years. She was a member of Lawn Baptist Church, serving as church clerk for the 30 years.
Preceding her in death was her father, Dave Poindexter.
Survivors include one daughter, Amy Earnest Romano and husband Rick of Abilene; one son, Adam Earnest of Buffalo Gap; her mother, Maxine Poindexter of Lawn; one sister, LaRie Hancock and husband Buck of Lawn; two brothers, Don Poindexter and wife Becky of Abilene, and Dewayne Poindexter and wife Janis of Odessa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
