Barbara, daughter of Burl Efran Hudson and Laura Minta Bailey, married to James Kelly Polk and buried in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Abilene, Taylor County, Texas.

Mrs. Jim (Barbara) Polk, 43, of 3575 Hunters Glen Road, wife of a prominent Abilene businessman and rancher, died at 9 a.m. Monday at her home after a lengthy illness.  Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Ray Neal Johnson, associate pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be at Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.

Born Aug. 7, 1940, in Lawn, she graduated from Jim Ned High School and attended Hardin-Simmons University.  She married Jim K. Polk April 17, 1965, in Abilene.  She was a past member of the Abilene Junior League and the Abilene Tennis Association.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann and jennifer Lynn, both of the home; her mother, Mrs. B.E. Hudson of Lawn; two brothers, Burl Dean Hudson of Lawn and D.G. Hudson of Montgomery; two sisters, Mrs. Mack (Wanell) Bowyer of Abilene and Mrs. Bobby (Yvonne) Adams of Abilene; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John, Repps, Phil and David Guitar, Curtis Rogers and Roy Hudson.

The family requests that remembrances be made in the form of donations to the West Texas Rehabiltation Center or the American Cancer Society.

Miss Hudson Bride of James K. Polk

After a trip to New Mexico and Colorado following their marriage Saturday morning at First Christian Church, Mr. and Mrs. James Kelly Polk will be at home at 425 Leggett Dr.

The bride is the former Barbara Ann Hudson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Hudson of Lawn.

The bridgroom is the son of Mrs. Kelly Polk, 3909 Monticello, and the late Mr. Polk.

Dr. Norman W. Conner officiated for the double ring ceremony.  Nuptial music was presented by La Homa White.

Judy Edwards of Rotan was maid of honor.  Best man was James Minor Alexander.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride wore a suit of off-white Italian linen and matching hat with brief veil and carried an orchid on a Bible.

A graduated of Jim Ned High School at Tuscola, the bride attended Hardin - Simmons University.  She is employed by Condley, Morphew and Co., Accountants.

The bridegroom is a graduate of New Mexico Military Institute and of Texas Technological College where he received a bachelor of science degree in agricultural economics.  His fraternity is Phi Delta Theta.  He operates the Polk Cattle Co.

Following the ceremony, the bridegroom's mother was hostess for a wedding breakfast at her home.

Mrs. Minor Alexander hosted the rehearsal diner at her home, 1158 Elmwood Dr.
