Leonita "Nita" Englert, 88, of Abilene, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 in Abilene.
Visitation will be 10:00 am, Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Highway 36 Church of Christ.


A joint funeral service for Nita and her husband, Inman Miller, will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, November 2 at the Highway 36 Church of Christ with Bob Martin, minister of the Elm Street Church of Christ in Coleman, Texas and Greg Melton, minister of the Highway 36 Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in the Potosi Cemetery. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.


Leonita was born on August 14, 1930 in Olfen, Texas to the late Fred and Lena (Fiest) Englert. She and Inman N. Miller, Jr. were married February 20, 1950 in Tuscola, Texas. Leonita was a wife and mother to six children. After her children were raised, she attended McMurry University and graduated in 1986. At this time, she began a career in education. She worked at Jefferson Middle School for approximately 20 years. She was a member of the Highway 36 Church of Christ and the Abilene Quilters Guild. Her favorite pastime was quilting, sewing, crafts, crochet work, and traveling. Leonita and Inman moved to Abilene in 1952 from Tuscola.


She was preceded in death by a son, Clifford Miller on December 21, 1979; one sister, Veronita Hillin and two brothers, Eugene and Jerome Englert.


Leonita was survived by her husband, Inman of Abilene, who passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. She is survived by five daughters, Virginia Roberts and husband Conrad of Lueders, Texas, Barbara Evans and husband Steve of Coleman, Texas, Billie McElreath and husband Jimmy of Abilene, Brenda Foster and husband Terry of Abilene and Debra Daniels of Waxahachie, Texas; four grandchildren, M'Lissa Kiser, Erin McEntire, Cody Roberts and Travis Evans; and eight great grandchildren, Garet, Chanlee, Cooper, Corlen, Knoah, Embrlyn, Arabella and Paisley.


Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Roberts, Travis Evans, Matt McEntire, Garet Roberts, Knoah Kiser, and Dustin Kiser. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Steve Evans, Jimmy McElreath, Terry Foster, Claude Dutton, Conrad Roberts, Tommy Smith, Alan Miller, and Joe Sharp.

The family suggests memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

The family of Leonita Miller wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Gao, Hendrick Critical Care Unit staff, Hendrick Hospice Care, and the many wonderful friends and family who supported and encouraged us through this difficult time.
