Rudy Bennett 'Whizzer' Stephens

(January 14, 1931 ~ March 5, 1967)

Rudy Bennett 'Whizzer' Stephens, son of Walter William Stephens and Gladys Roberta Maxwell, married to Juanita Sue Edwards and buried in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Abilene, Taylor County, Texas.


Funeral for Ruby B. (Whizzer) Stephens, 36, of 2112 Parramore, Abilene, will be held Tuesday afternoon in Grace Methodist Church.  Time of services will be announced.

Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, Abilene, under direction of Fry Funeral Home.  The body will lie in state at Fry Funeral Home until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Stephens, an oilfield driller, died Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Big Spring Veteran’s Hospital after an extended illness.

Born at Buffalo Gap Jan. 14, 1931, he married Juanita Edwards in January, 1954.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Arthur Lynn, Edith and Margie Sue, all of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Stephens of Tuscola; four sisters, Mrs. Richard Pierson and Mrs. Jesse Pierson, both of Tuscola, Mrs. Morris Ross of Tulsa, Okla, and Mrs. Robert Yawn of Abilene; three brothers, J.W. of Midland, Billy Mac of El Paso and Glenn of Snyder; several nieces and nephews.
