I am happy to find this site. I look forward to keeping in touch with friends from high school. Since leaving Tuscola, I graduated from Hardin-Simmons, married Max Arrell, moved to Austin, adopted our daughter, became active in our church, later served on Hardin-Simmons Board of Trustees, worked as a social worker for many years, but am retired now. Max retired after serving as comissioner of a state agency, now we are just enjoying life. With full retirement we have resources to enjoy the things that bring us joy.

We are active in our church, Austin Baptist Church, Max hunts whenever and wherever the opportunity arises, I love doing missions, going on mission trips, and doing ministries wherever God leads. I am a breast cancer survivor, but otherwise both of us have reasonably good health for which we are grateful. God has been very good to us.

School Story:

I was only in school in Tuscola for the last two years of high school. My father was the pastor of the First Baptist Church. I have many happy memories from those years. The last four years Tuscola has gotten lots of good press in Austin with Colt McCoy being a Texas Longhorn.

I have enjoyed volunteering my time through my church. My main activity is being a part of Texas Baptist Men (yes, we do have women doing these jobs) Disaster Relief Teams. Our association has a large truck that houses washers, dryers, and showers. We go wherever we can help people whose lives have been torn apart and we wash clothes, and provide a place for them to have a clean shower without cost to them. We wear yellow caps and yellow shirts, and we are a part of a wonderful organization of Baptist who serve around the world. Look for us whenever and wherever a crisis occurs, such as 9-11, Katrina, and Haiti, as an example.

My other volunteer job that I love doing is going with a group of my friends to the Fisher Houses, Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio. We go for a week, two or three times a year, and we cook, and serve the wounded warriors who are there for their rehabitation so they can re-enter life. I have never seen such courage, and they teach us each time how valuable life is, how to enjoy life to the fullest, the part faith plays in one's life, and how to begin again so you never, never give up.

Most people will remember that I liked to talk, and I still do. I speak to church groups, do women's retreats, and encourage them to be a part of mission outreach, and be a "yellow capper" with disaster teams. My most recent honor is I have been elected to serve of the Executive Board of Baptist General Convention of Texas.
