Gary Loyd O'Shields, 55, passed away early Sunday morning May 27, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00am Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Oplin cemetery, with Randy White officiating, directed by Fry ~ Bartlett Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00pm Monday evening May 28, 2012 at the funeral home.
Gary was born in Hendrick Hospital on December 15, 1956 to Vaughn and Ruth O'Shields.
Gary was raised in southern Taylor County always calling Lawn his home. He graduated in 1976 from Jim Ned High School.
He was a man who loved to work with his hands with carpentry being his specialty.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish, always respectful to nature.
Gary was known by his friends and family as a man who was quick with a handshake, truthful to his word, and always generous
Gary is survived by his parents Vaughn and Ruth O'Shields of Lawn, brother Shannon O'Shields of Lawn, Nephew David O'Shields of Abilene, niece Sara Boyles of Abilene , nephews Macon and Ransom O'Shields of Abilene, and seven great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by a brother Stacey O'Shields.
