CLYDE — Charles Ray Preslar, 74, formerly of Tuscola, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at the Abilene Elmcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Johnson and Dr. Jerry Joplin officiating. Burial will be in the Dewey Cemetery, directed by Bailey Funeral Home of Clyde.

Mr. Preslar was born in Taylor County. He married Barbara Simmons on May 24, 1947 in south Taylor County. He was the owner of Abilene Paving Company from 1960 until 1983. He moved from Tuscola to Clyde in 1998. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was a member of the Elmcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of Clyde; one son, Michael Alan Preslar of Abilene; two daughters, Charlotte Palmer of Clyde and Peggy Wright of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
