Martha Ann Shelton Leake

Martha Ann Shelton Leake, daughter of John Jessie Shelton and Frances Marie McGinnis, married to Joe Ferrell Leake and buried in Resthaven Cemetery, Southland, Garza County, Texas.

Funeral services for Martha Ann Leake, age 88, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at Englunds Chapel in Slaton with Rev. Harold Abney of Plainview officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery in Southland, Texas, under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.

Mrs. Leake died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center Lakeside in Lubbock. She was born Martha Ann Shelton on Aug. 28, 1915, in Soper, Okla. She married Joe F. Leake on March 28, 1936, in Slaton; he preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1986. She was an electrical technician for Anderson Young Electric of Lubbock for 27 years, retiring in 1973.

Her survivors include five children, Patsy Fowler, Katy Maxcy and David Leake, all of Lubbock, and Joe Bob Leake and Jackie Leake of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; four sisters, Lucile Smith of Hart, Margie Peterson of Lubbock, Doris Cashion of Hollister, Calif., and Fran Houghton of Saratoga; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.
