U.V. Davis Lovett Tucker

U.V. Tucker, 87, a longtime resident of Abilene, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Norm Archibald and Pastor John Grabanski officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

She was born on June 2, 1914 in Tuscola, Texas to Angie Bright Davis and Cyr P. Davis. She graduated in Tuscola in 1931, and Draughan's Business College in 1940. She retired from the City of Abilene after working as a librarian for twenty years. Prior to that time, she worked for the Abilene Reporter-News for five years.

Mrs. Tucker was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Abilene and Hendrick Medical Center Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Ed Lovett (1949) and Herbert G. Tucker (1983); two brothers, Arthur Davis and John Davis; and four sisters, Martha Thyrett, Edna Touchstone, Emma Yates, and Ida Carter.

Survivors include two brothers, Wallace Davis of Abilene and C.P. Davis of Houston; a sister, Mamie Zimmerlee of Abilene; and a number of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
