William "Bill" Turner, 81, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at his home in Abilene. Graveside funeral service will be 2 PM, Friday, July 13, 2012 at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Bill was born in Lawn, TX on November 2, 1930 to Boyd and Lucille Shores Turner. He graduated from Lawn High School in 1948. Shortly after high school he married Pearl McMillin and they lived in Sweetwater. Bill worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for several years before relocating to Abilene and beginning work with Morton's Food. After Pearl's passing in 1988 he married Cynthia McCubbins in 1991. He worked for Dillard's for 14 years until his retirement in December of 2011. He was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church and attended Trinity Baptist Church in Abilene. Bill was a hard worker and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Bill is survived by his wife of 21 years, Cynthia Turner; one daughter, Vivian Brannon and husband Lawrence; one son, Mack Thomas and wife Sue; grandchildren, Jett Brannon and wife Becky, Wayne Brannon and wife Brenda, Kendall Thomas, Crystal Thomas; three great grandchildren, Sean Freeman, Stormy Brannon, Lindsey Brannon; three sisters, Betty Landers, Barbara Gillit and husband Wiley, and Bonnie Smith.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Pearl.
