Melba, daughter of Paul Rinehart Gerlach and Minnie Lois Gehrels, married to Billy Joe Emmert and buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Winters, Runnels County, Texas.

Melba Gerlach Emmert, 89, of Houston, formerly of Winters, died July 6, 2014. She was born July 14, 1924 in Bradshaw and grew up there graduating from Bradshaw High School May 26, 1943. She attended Hardin Simmons University. She married Billy Joe Emmert December 8, 1943 in Winters. She owned and operated Melba's Arts, Crafts and gifts in Winters. She was a member of the Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Theresa Rushing of Houston and Sherron Wilson of Corpus Christi. 3 sisters: Ann Baldwin of Winters, Carolyn Davis of Clyde and Darla Kruse of Florida. 3 grandchildren: Wayne Collins and wife Stephanie, Billy Collins and wife Caroline and Lori Wilson and fiance; Howard. 5 great-grandchildren: Kevin, Mia, Madyson, Jon and Ashlyn Collins. She was preceded in death by her husband: Joe Emmert, her parents, Paul and Minnie Gerlach and sister, Ruth Williams.

Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday July 9, 2014 at Lakeview cemetery directed by Winters Funeral Home.
