James Leslie Lloyd, Jr., son of  James Leslie Lloyd, Sr. and Velma Mae Graves, married to Floy Faye 'Flute' Moore and buried in Trinity Memorial Park Cemetery, Big Spring, Howard County, Texas.


James Leslie Lloyd, Jr., 87, of Big Spring, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Mark Lindsey, officiating.

He was born October 19, 1925 in Norton, Texas to Velma and James Leslie Lloyd.

He grew up in Norton and graduated from Ballinger High School.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II. His duty during his service included hunting German submarines off the coast of Florida.

He has been a long time resident of Big Spring and the Luther communities since 1953.

He retired in 1984 as a plant operator from Texaco (formerly Getty and Reef) after 32 years.

He married Floy Faye (Flute) Moore on April 14, 1984 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He enjoyed fishing, dancing at the VFW, playing the piano, and traveling.

He also liked animals and searching computer websites.

He was active in the American Legion and Elks Lodge.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Big Spring.

He is survived by his wife: Floy Faye Lloyd (Flute) of Big Spring; two sons: Rick Lloyd and wife Leslie Ann of Austin and Rodger Lloyd and wife Betty Jean of Big Spring; daughters: Gaynell Carter and Melanie Fortenberry and her husband John, all of Lubbock, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and one brother: Maxon Lloyd of Dallas.
