Charles Cowden Landers, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Horseshoe Bay on Thursday, January 23, 2014. He was born in Abilene, Texas on June 22, 1930 to Joseph Meredith Landers and Emily Yoes Landers. He graduated from Jim Ned High School in Tuscola, Texas in 1948. He was preceded in death by his wife Aylene Lile Landers of Austin, and his only sister Nina Landers Peebles and her husband Frank Peebles of Abilene.

Charles had 6 great-grandchildren with number 7 due in March, 4 grandchildren and 2 daughters. He was very proud of his family and especially enjoyed family get-togethers. He is survived by Cynthia Landers Stryk and her husband Gary Stryk, and Nancy Landers Tilson and husband Steve Tilson. Grandchildren are David Stryk and wife Tiffany and their children Luca and Isla; Kathleen Tilson McKinney and husband Steven and their children Kara, Joy, and Isaac; Carolyn Stryk Whiddon and husband Darik and Grayson James due in March; Rachel Tilson Elizondo and husband John and daughter Juliana; and longtime friend and traveling companion Patricia Boline all of Austin, Texas.

He is also survived by his niece and her husband Emily and Allan Meador of Abilene and their children and grandchildren.

A private ceremony and burial was held Tuesday, January 28 at Forest Park Cemetary in Austin, Texas.
