Wayne, son of Frank Icing Baker and Nora Mae Little and buried in Tuscola Cemetery, Tuscola, Taylor County, Texas.


Funeral Pending For War Victim

OVALO (RNS) - Funeral arrangements are pending for Marine PFC Wayne R. Baker, 20, who was killed in combat in Viet Nam Aug. 24.  He was the son of Mrs. Nora Baker and the late Mr. Baker of Box 125, Ovalo.

Baker, a member of Company F. 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, was fatally wounded in the chest at Ouang Tri and died after being evacuted to Company C of the 3rd Medical Battalion.  Ouang Tri is about 25 miles south of the 17th parallel dividing North and South Viet Nam.

Baker was born at Ovalo March 11, 1946.  He attended Jim Ned High School, was in the National Guard and was employed for a time by the Pan American Air Condition Co. plant in Winters before enlisting in the Marines Sept. 24, 1965, in Abilene.

He is survived by his mother; three brothers, Jerry Baker of Lawn, Kenneth and James of Ovalo; and three sisters, Mrs. Burley (Bobbie) Jones of San Angelo, Mrs. Faye Wallas of Ovalo and Barbara Lee of the home.

The body is expected to arrive in Dallas by airplane Friday at 11:30 a.m.

Funeral plans will be announced by Fry Funeral Home of Tuscola.
