Lillie Joyce (Rose) Bowden, 77, of Clyde, Texas, born September 22, 1928 near Lawn, went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2006. She grew up near Content with her parents, Lillie (Aldridge) and Franklin Rose, and her sister, Doris Copeland Harrell. She graduated from Lawn High School in 1945. On September 3, 1949, she married E. H. 'Sandy' Bowden, whom she met while working in Abilene for Southwestern Bell. She started her family and happy memories in Abilene prior to living in Wichita Falls and Odessa, Texas. She and Sandy retired to Clyde in 1987. She was a member of Abilene Primitive Baptist Church.

Joyce was a playful and caring Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who loved her family and became known as Nana. She was a precious wife that enjoyed life and will always hold a special place with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister.

Joyce is survived by her husband, E.H. "Sandy" Bowden of Clyde; son, Terry Bowden and wife, Gloria, of Ranger; and daughter, Kim Justis and husband, Tim, of Stephenville. She had two granddaughters, Jessica and husband, Cole Callaway, of Orlando, Florida and Ashley Justis of Stephenville; two great-grandchildren, Austin Hunter and Mackenzie Rose Callaway; and nephews, Mike Copeland and wife, Becky, of Stephenville and Tim Copeland and wife, Erica, of Abilene.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m., at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory in Abilene. Services will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories conducted by Elder Travis Brown, with her resting at Dewey Cemetery in Lawn. Pallbearers will be Matt Copeland, Mitch Copeland, Scott Copeland, Rick Copeland, Michael Copeland and Doug Aldridge.
