Bernice Mildred Johnson Harker, daughter of James Hart Johnson and Eliza Virginia Buzbee married Adam Gage Harker and buried in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Abilene, Taylor County, Texas.


Bernice M. Harker, 96, a longtime resident of Abilene, died Saturday at a local nursing home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Brook Hollow Christian Church with Dr. Steven G. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mrs. Harker was born in Callahan County and moved from Ovalo to Abilene while in high school. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1921 and worked at Camp Barkley for 3-1/2 years. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Brook Hollow Christian Church. She married Adam Gage Harker in 1922 in Abilene; he preceded her in death.  Mrs. Harker was the daughter of James H. and Eliza V. Johnson.

Survivors include one son, H.J. Harker of Dripping Springs; one brother, Roy Johnson of Burleson; and two grandsons.
