Joy Simmons Frymire, 83, passed away at a local nursing facility Saturday, September 10, 2011. A graveside service is scheduled for 12:00pm Wednesday September 14, 2011 at the Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Fry ~ Bartlett Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday morning September 14, 2011 starting at 10:30am at the funeral home.
Joy was born on October 14, 1927 to Allen and Willie (Rogers) Simmons in Abilene. She grew up in south Taylor County in the Tuscola area where her father was a farmer and truck driver.
After graduating from Ovalo High School in 1944, she attended business college in Abilene, taking banking courses. Joy worked for over forty years as a bookkeeper in Texas and banking business in Illinois at the Security Bank and Trust, retiring as head teller. She was a member of the Ovalo Ex's. Joy loved to volunteer at Abilene Regional Medical Center. She had a passion for people and their stories. She was also well known for her great sense of humor and her ability to make people laugh. Joy was an avid reader, and story teller. She was a member of Tuscola Baptist Church.
Joy is survived by her son James Reece and wife Carol of Lakeland, Florida, daughter Patsy Krajewski and husband Mitch of Novato, California, three sisters Barbara Preglar and Nancy Riggens of Abilene, Marie Nabors of Deleon, two brothers, Richard Bains and Randall Bains of Carthage, step sister Bonnie Pedigo of Midland, four grand children, five great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter Jamie Lynn Reece. Three step brothers, Donald, David, and Charles Bains, and a step sister, Ruby (Bains) Davidson also preceded her in death.
