Patsy Estelle Rountree Warford

(May 23, 1936 - February 7, 2013)

Patsy Estelle Rountree Warford, daughter of Howard Clay Rountree and Tennie Marie Wilson, married Charles Warford and buried in McBee Cemetery, Ovalo, Taylor County, Texas.

Patsy Estelle Warford, 76, passed away on Thursday February 7, 2013 in Austin. A graveside service is scheduled 2:00pm Saturday, February, 16, 2013, at McBee Cemetery. Directed by Fry~Bartlett Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:00pm until 1:45pm Saturday.

Pasty was born in Brown County to Howard Clay and Tennie Marie (Wilson) Rountree on May 23, 1936, the eldest of four "Rountree Girls". Both the Wilsons and Rountrees were long time Brown County residents. Patsy attended various schools around Brownwood before her family moved to Lawn in 1951. She met Charles Warford, and they became engaged while in high school. They were married in 1955, as college students of Howard Payne University. Patsy graduated from Howard Payne University in 1957 and moved back to Lawn. She began teaching in 1959 in Lawn, after the birth of her children Jeffory Loy on Christmas Day 1957, and Patti Jo on March 14, 1961. Patsy continued to teach next in Merkel, then at Abilene State School, and one year in Amarillo. The next twenty-seven years she taught at the Round Rock School District in the Special Education Department. Patsy had a strong belief that every child has potential, and she did everything she could to see that her students reached that potential. She retired in 1998 and spent the remaining years enjoying her grandchildren.

Patsy is survived by her husband Charles of Austin, children Jeffory Warford of Miami, Florida, Patti Jo Cole and husband Jayson of Austin, grandchildren Audrey, Ben, Hannah, Natalie, William, and Sophia Cole all of Austin, Justin Michael Warford of Florida, sisters Coleta Reed of Abilene, Ann Hearn of Midland, and Kathleen Taylor of Granbury, numerous nephews and nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Patsy wanted to thank all of the people that have been a part of her life especially her ex-students and their parents. Various doctors have helped Patsy through difficult times which included: Drs. B. K. Morrison, George Williford Jr. and Thomas Blevins.
