KILLEEN -- Marie Thomas, 85, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at a Temple hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Killeen, with the Reverend Randy Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Killeen City Cemetery, directed by Harper-Talasek Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thomas was born May 10, 1916 in Tuscola, TX. She graduated with a BA in Education from Sul Ross State University and married Harold Thomas June 25, 1938. She moved to Killeen in 1955 and taught second grade in the Killeen ISD for 30 years, retiring in 1969. She was a member of the First Baptist Church; Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, Builders for Christ, Retired Teachers Assn., Ft. Hood Red Cross Volunteer; and a Metroplex Hospital Volunteer.

She is survived by her husband, Harold D. Thomas of Killeen; a son, LTG (Ret) Billy M. Thomas of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Patricia A. Blackstock of San Antonio; two brothers, Robert Moore of Weimar, TX and Casey Moore of Abilene; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Texas Baptist Children's Home in Round Rock, TX.
