Lorena Eve Barker Claxton
(May 12, 1918 ~ March 28, 2015)
Lorena, daughter of Milburn Flanders Barker and Addie Matilda Catherine Nite, married to Oda Dee Claxton and buried in Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery, Hughson, Stanislous County, California.
Lorena slipped away from this life on Saturday, March 28, 2015, to a far better life to where she was longing to go.
She was born in Red Rock, Texas, but moved to Taylor County, Texas with her parents and siblings at a young age. She was married to O.D. Claxton in 1937 and a few years later they moved to California with their 2-year old son, Dean.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Oakdale and enjoyed worshipping there as long as her health allowed her to go. She enjoyed her many crafts - sewing, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, applique for quilts. She enjoyed her home very much but enjoyed her work outside the home as well. She was a bookkeeper for a lumber company for many years and building contractors occasionally for several years.
She was predeceased by her only son, Dean, 2 years ago, her husband, O.D. Claxton, her parents, Milburn and Addie Barker, 4 brothers, and 1 sister. Lorena is survived by 2 grandsons, Michael (Trudy) Claxton of Modesto and David (Janice Claxton of Saginaw, Texas; a brother, Albert (Marge) Barker; and sister, Doris (Don) Armstrong; and many nieces and nephews, including great and great, greats.
